Outlet Mall

The outlet mall here is really nice. Most of the places are rather expensive but you can find nice deals on things there. I went to Aero and bought a nice jacket for only 30 dollars when at Hollister it would of cost around 100. I also bought a long sleeve shirt for 10 dollars which is sooooo cheap. Many of the shoe places there besides Nike are expensive since they sell the best made fancy shoes. I like the Nike store there since their selection is huge and it offers more than just shoes.

I can see why this girl I know has come down to San Marcos on a 4 hour drive just to go to the outlet mall. If you go to this college it would be crazy not to go there at least once. It is massive and sopposively the biggest outlet mall in the nation from what I hear or at least in Texas. There are also some nice restaurants surrounding the outlet that are a nice addition since you can go eat there after you shop or before. I also got a nice deal on shoes at Nike for only 30 dollars. The outlet is not too far away so it has a nice location from our campus. You just need a car to get there.

Taking the English Final Early

I am happy I am taking the English final early since I get to leave 4 days early for Christmas Break. Its not a lot of time but it still feels like a lot. Hopefully the prompt we get is easy since I want to get done with it and be out of there. I need to bring my laptop to the class that day so that I can type it. Dang its late right now and I have one more blog to go by tomorrow.

I like prompts that you dont know the topic of until you get it. Usually they are graded less harsh and involve more thought than research. The SAT had a lot of that on their essay part of the test in High School. They graded the essay part quite hard though. By doing good on this final hopefully I will get an A in the class.

San Marcos Dorms

So I really want to get into the San Marcos dorms next year. I am currently in Falls and when my best friend transfers here I am going to request a room there with him. For all you who dont know what a San Marcos room looks like it is pretty much a small apartment. There are two separate bedrooms with twin size beds. A sitting room with couches and a lot of room for a TV and other things. There is a kitchen with a sink and microwave and a somewhat spacious refrigerator.

I spent the night there a week or so ago and I have to say I was impressed. It all has its own bathroom so if I get the dorm next year, no more community bathrooms for me. Obviously the room costs a lot more than my current one but it is so much better and I would really enjoy the room for the money it costs. The location of it sucks since you are far away from most classes. The nice part about its location is the fact that it is so near the Rec. Center.

Ink

So yeah my essay is due tomorrow and my printer is out of ink. I need to find my flash drive so I can take it to someone else's laptop and print it on their printer. It ran out on the last page of a paper so it truly sucked. Hah I just found it and since i need about 3 more blogs after this I am going to talk about this boring little flash drive. I bought it at Walmart this year for who knows how much. It is about 2 and a half inches long and just like other flash drives is able to plug into a usb port drive and withdraw information for storage.

Its quite nifty since it is very portable. It is black with a flip on it to let the drive insertion part come out. When it is plugged in it shines orange on the front to let you know it is working. It is a "cruzer" brand flash drive which I have never heard of. It is also 4 GB so it will easily last me this whole year without deleting anything on it. Im pretty sure it was cheap so I am happy I made that purchase since I am certainly in need of it right now.

Grandma's Boy

I watched the movie Grandma's Boy this weekend. It was a funny movie that had a lot of actors in the Happy Madison films. The robot guy was weird and awkward. All the people did in the movie was play games, develop games, and smoke weed. There were some gross parts such as with the friend and the grandma. They turned it funny though when she told the guy that he was her about 3000th.

The guy answers with, "damn I should of worn a condom". I laughed because I had said right before, " damn he has to of gotten an STD". The guy had a really easy life since he lived in his grandma's house and all she did was cook food for him as he smoked weed and went to work at a fun job. The monkey part of the movie along with the Native Doctor was also very funny.

Cellphone

I traded in my Verizon LG T-Phone for a new model of LG a few weeks ago. I heard good things about the Voyager so I decided to try it out. Not only does it have a touch screen with scrolling capabilities but it can flip into a keyboard for easy texting and things such as the Envy. I got a silver one with a black cover so that it doesnt end up in such bad condition as my older phone.

Ever since I got to college I seemed to drop it on the ground when im not paying attention in my dorm room. Its a lot more convenient since my old phone could only hold 50 texts in the inbox at a time while this one holds around 150. Since all good things do have a downside it seems I would have to say the touch screen lock gets annoying sometimes or when its not on I accidently hit a button in my pocket to make the phone do something annoying.

Tuesdays With Morrie

I read a book named Tuesdays with Morrie for extra credit. It was a good book. I havent read any books in quite a long time so it was hard to just jump right into the book. It was basically about a teachers bond with his now older student. The teacher is diagnosed with a life altering disease that gradually weakens him over time limiting his physical abilities as it develops. The teacher is a lot older than the student and gives him advice at their meetings on life.

They meet every Tuesday and the student shows so much love and compassion for his teacher by how he acts and cares for him. The teacher shows the same things back towards the student. Many of the things the teacher said such as when two people who love each other die. The love doesnt die. It is still there spiritually existing just not visable to the human eye. I thought about that and truly agreed with what he said. The book ended with Morries death and a more positive outlook and future for the narrators life.

Haircut

So I definently got my head shaved this past week. Since I cant really see the back I had my two friends do it since they were doing the same thing. They thought it would be funny to leave a whole portion on the back unshaved. Luckily for me I had the brains to feel the back of my head so I yelled at them to finish it. After I had a even cut and all that I had to get all the hair off of me. It took around thirty minutes since the cutter was pretty dull. Now that I have no hair I dont need to wear a hat anymore.

I usually cut my hair this short though when it gets long. The only bad thing about it is that it is Winter and I dont have any hair to keep my head warm. I dont have to brush my hair anymore luckily. Another thing my friends did was pretend they cut part of my hair bald by accident which pissed me off a lot. Thats about it for my haircut.

The Dark Knight

Comes out on dvd in three days. One of the best movies Ive ever seen and im excited for it to come out. Being a sequel its suprising that it is even better than the first one. Unlike most movies the villian was intriguing and smart. The Joker was the main villian of this movie and he wasnt an antagonist because of shere strength but of his ability to be a step ahead all of the time.

When you think the movie is about to end. The Joker has another plan in store and he amazes people by escaping from jail amongst dozens of guards. He is an the perfect counterpart to Batman since they both use intellect in their struggles and during the movie the two intellects clash constantly. Heath Ledger played the Joker role and left a memorable closing to his career with this movie since he died soon after.

Last week of classes

Starting this Monday it will be the last week of my Fall classes. I have three exams between Wednesday and Thursday. After that I am going to drive straight home and just see what my friends here are up to. The drive is about 4 hours long so sometimes I get a headache from driving (I hope that doesnt happen). There is still some food left over from Thanksgiving so that will be great.

The nice thing about this break is that it lasts for about a month and I dont have to worry about any homework during that time. Tuesday we dont even have classes for a study day which is perfect. I need to work on my essay in English tomorrow so I can pull off an A in the class. Thats pretty much it on the week besides the fact that I need to get all my stuff together that I am going to take back home with me.

Call of Duty

So yeah my friend bought an xbox 360 game to play on my console named Call of Duty 4. The graphics and all that are good. Not only that but its very realistic. The only boring part about it is the fact that online is nothing but people hiding. Halo definently beats this game no argue. The campaign like halos is probably the smaller feature of the game since online play is the rave nowadays.

My friend said I could keep the game even though it cost him sixty dollars. All in all it is a good game it just doesnt go by the same element halo does that I like. As im typing this I am playing Call of Duty though. Its pretty late so I think I will go to bed now since I am going back home tomorrow and I have a class at 11.

Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving I went back to Beaumont on a Tuesday. I had a headache when i got home so I went straight to sleep. I woke up the next day and went to play basketball for awhile until I went to the movies to see Transporter 3. My best friend had just flown in from Ohio for the Break so I went with him and his family along with mine.

Most of the nights that week were filled with beer pong so I enjoyed them a lot. One of the games we played the other team didnt even shoot once which was quite funny. The next day I ate Thanksgiving dinner not only at my friends house in the morning but at my house in the afternoon. The food was great and I loved the dressing and turkey more than anything.

James Bond

The new James Bond film came out this weekend. Unlike all the other James Bond films its had its plot directly related to the one before it. Named Quantam of Solace it was a sequel to Casino Royale. The plot seemed somewhat stretched but it delivered a lot of action.

Overall it was a good movie. I went to see it with my dad since I've seen ever James Bond in theaters with him. No hint at the next James Bond movie has come out yet but like always I am sure there will be another one. At the end of Quantam of Solace they truly brought the problem of the first movie to an end and foreshadowed James Bond returning to MI6 and starting his life as the 007 we all see in movies.

Hellboy 2

Last night I saw the movie Hellboy 2. It was a good movie but it definently was not as good as the first one. It seemed like the movie was used to just draw more money out of the prequels name. Basically the movie was about Hellboy stopping the Golden Army from coming about.

Like always the hero saves the day and Hellboy stops the Golden Army. I doubt it will turn into a trilogy but like always there is always a chance. I like the general idea of the story so I will most likely go see a third one.

Basketball Tournament

Last weekend I was in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament at Texas State. Out of around 25 teams we ended up coming in 3rd. It costed around 40 dollars per team and you got a free shirt along with drinks and a trophy and gift certificate if u came in the first three places. It was on a Saturday from 2-6 and was at the Jowers gym.

Most of the teams there were fraternities. In the end my team went 3-1 after losing to the 1st place team 15-14. The gift certificate we received was for a free appetizer at Salt Grass. Overall the tournament was fun and as an all freshman team against teams of Juniors and Seniors we did pretty good.

Longhorns and Bobcats

So UT definently beat OSU today which made me very happy. Im glad they made it to the number one spot especially without Jamaal Charles. It was a close game today. The score was 28-24 and the Cowboys almost scored and won the game if it wasnt for the strong Texas defense.

Another football team that I support won today too. The bobcats beat the SFA Lumberjacks with an impressive 62-21 win. Its good to see our school doing well in district since they are not known for being the best football team. Next week the Longhorns will play Texas Tech and they are a pretty good team. By winning the game next week, the Longhorns may ensure they come off the season as number one.

Bio Test on Monday

Im stressing about this Bio test on Monday. The last test in Bio I took i got a 66. Its a fairly hard test with over 70 questions. I am hoping that it will be alot easier of a test this time and I will definently put forth more effort than in the last test for studying. The test on Monday is going to be over Cell Division, Metabolism, and Photosynthesis.

Cell Division will be the hard part for me since it is not based on past knowledge. Our teacher says we need to study around 8 hours before the test again and that is quite stressful. Like last test I am bound to procrastinate just a little at the minimum.

Roxy

My best friends dog is probably the nicest one I have ever seen. A Border-Collie mix and around 8 years old now, it has been a mascot for my friends house. Very lively and hyper the dog is always up for a chase. Roxy lives in a medium sized kennel in the house and sheds hair quite a lot.

She is also smart, answering to her name and listening to many different commands. She has a black and white coat with standing up ears. The funniest thing about Roxy is her temper around other dogs, while in fact shes quite a coward. A neighboring bulldog got into a fight with Roxy last summer and won and hurt her ear. After recovering Roxy never learned her lesson and still continues to mock the neighboring bulldog at every glimpse of it.

The Incredible Hulk

Today I watched The Incredible Hulk. It was a much better movie than its earlier released one. The storyline and scenes made much more sense and it had an embedding plot line with The Avengers. The ending was great when you see Tony Stark from Iron Man come and speak to the general and create foreshadowing of a combined sequal to Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.

The movie entertained me for a few hours as I drank a few cokes and ate a hotdog. The Incredible Hulk movie was also very funny and is worth the money spent to watch it. I will go see the sequel for sure.

Heading Home

This weekend I went home to see my friends and family. As soon as I got home I got a call to go play basketball. I played basketball for around two hours and after that I went to my friends house to stay the night. Tonight I am going to a cajun seafood restaurant named Larry's French Market where the food is amazing.

Not only is the food good there but it is also cheap. The drive to get there is about thirty minutes but it is sure worth it. My puppy was very happy to see me when I got to my front door. I will be heading home on Sunday and it is an unfortunate four hour drive.

Which Wich

Today I went to the Which Wich Sandwich shop. It was my first time there and I had no clue what to order. Dustin was with me and he got a Italian order sandwich. On the other hand I got the seafood sandwich and it was great. I ordered a shrimp poboy. On it I had honey mustard and grilled onions.

The sandwich was not too big so I ate it very fast. After that I went to my Biology class. Which Wich is definently one of my favorite places to eat here. Ordering the food was fast and fun to do since you marked your order on a sleeve that the sandwich goes in.

Fishing

Today I went to a neighboring town to go catfish fishing. It was a sunny day and i got there at around three. It cost me fifteen dollars to fish all day and I got to keep all i caught. Once I casted out within a minute my line became tangled and I noticed I had a bite with no way to reel it in. I pulled it in with my hands and I landed a 5 pound catfish.

For the next two hours all I could catch was small catfish and perch. In the end all I had was my first fish. It was dark so I had to leave but i enjoyed the trip since I had not been catfish fishing since I was about 8. Tomorrow I will clean the fish and soon I will catch more so that I'll have enough to feed the whole family.

Weekend

This weekend I went back home to Beaumont and it was rather beaten up there from the hurricane. An interesting thing that happened there was the ditches in the suburban neighborhoods had a large amount of fish in them swimming. The high winds and waters had pushed the mullet from the gulf of mexico and catfish, carp, and bass from nearby lakes and ponds. There were hundreds of catfish about a foot long swimming together in the 1 foot deep water. Carp over a foot long were swimming around struggling to room to swim.

I got a castnet and caught hundreds of the fish. I threw them all back since they were probably unsanitary due to hurricane waters and things in the ditch. Overall it was a rare sight that I will most likely not ever see again. That was one of the biggest things I remember from this weekend.

Biology

Tomorrow I have a Biology test. I know it is going to be very overwhelming because everyone around me also has no clue what is going on. There are six chapters to cover with over 180 vocabulary words. The professor said that we need to study at least ten to fifteen hours to do well on the test.

Luckily the test scores get a curve so my grade will be higher than what I actually make. There are about four hundred kids in my class so hopefully none of them score too high or my curve will be alot less. Biology is probably my hardest class that I am currently taking this semester and I will probably regret it.

Chipotle Grill

Of all the food places near my campus it would definently have to be the Chipotle Grill. Ive never been a big fan of mexican food but Chipotle is really good. The lines there are short so you can be in and out extremely fast. If you have never been there then all you need to know is that the food is ordered like a subway. The ingredients in front of you where you choose which type of meats and toppings. It isnt the cheapest place to go but for the seven or so dollars it is very worth it.

Not only that, they also accept bobcat bucks if you are not a freshman. When I go there I always order a burrito with rice and pork, it is topped off with guacamole and a little cheese. They wrap it in tinfoil to hold it together and put it in a small basketball. Once you are done with your quick meal you just throw your trash in the trashcan and put the basketball above it. All in all, it takes about ten minutes to truly get in there and be out full.

Ping Pong

Since I started college ping pong has been pretty fun to play in the dorms. Its fun to play when you can just talk to your opponent about whatever as you hit the ball. If you get competitive it tends to involve a lot on how much you spin the ball on your hits and all that. Yesterday I played about 15 games and ended up doing quite well. I got to the table at around 3 and Louis was determined to win.

The game started out with me at a 7-3 lead and soon rose to a 15-6 lead. I got lucky on my next serve and hit the corner so it was literally unreturnable. After that I messed up a serve or two and cost me a few points. Soon it was game point with the score 20-11 and he was taking advantage of the rule that you cant lose on game point serve. His score escalated to 20-15 and I rose to the challenge by returning his lucky serve and spiking his next return back into the table.

Friday September 12th

Today was an early day for me. At around 7 in the morning I received a call from a friend that is at a neighboring dorm. She asked me to do her a big favor and I was already quite distraught. She said needed a ride from the jailhouse. After I turned on my cars GPS and found the Hays County Sheriff's Department and my friend she told me how she got a Public Intoxication charge. I went to McDonalds after that for breakfast and later came back to my dorm to sleep.

I woke up at around 3 in the afternoon and the RA's were giving tornado warning procedures to all the Falls Hall Residents. I heated up some mini corndogs in the microwave for lunch and decided to make use of a boring day by reading a few chapters out of my Biology book since everyone in the class seems to be as confused as I am. After an hour of review I decided to just get on facebook and now write my blog. That is pretty much all thats gone on today for me, it was not an exciting day.

Hurricanes

Recently this labor day weekend my hometown was on the list of possible targets of Hurricane Gustav. Although the hurricane diminished and never affected my hometown of Beaumont, it still reminded me of what happened with Hurricane Rita. Before hurricane Rita struck the roads were packed for 5 hour drives or even more just to get 40 miles away. My first destination was Rayburn Lake where it was near abandoned. When the hurricane hit trees were thrown everywhere and trampled some nearby houses.

After cleaning up and burning all the excess wood we headed towards College Station for the remainder of our evacuation. We stayed there for around two weeks as my friends older sisters were attending college there. While at the house there we mainly just played Halo 2 on xbox live and Grand Theft Auto 3. Upon returning to our hometown with no sign of when school would start again we had to live for about 2 weeks with no power or internet running on generators. It was an unpleasant experience but you have to come to realize that some people in the world endure that type of living every single day. It can inspire you to work harder in school so you come out successfull.

Olympic Basketball

Team USA has been the most predominant team over the years in Olympic Basketball. In 1992 Olympic play, the team lead by world famous Michael Jordan decimated all opposition winning by at least 30 points in all their games. The team was known as the "Dream Team" and there would sopposively never been another one like it. In 2004 the favored United States did not win the gold medal they had set out to get. One question readers should ask themselves is why they did not win.

Some reasons to consider on why they lost was that the best players in the NBA were not concerned with risking injury and possibly ending their career in game of National pride and not money. It may of also been that the team made by the US that year which included the rookie phenomenom Lebron James was not familiar with each other since it was an all star game with players who had not had any experience on the same team as the other all stars. The 2008 basketball team in the olympics did not include a single player from the Finals winning Celtics. Why is that? Basketball is a team sport not a game that is won by just pure talent. The teams that opposed the United States had players who have played with each other for countless years and had prepared for the Olympics for many years. United States basketball is about winning the finals in most American's eyes. Let me know what you think about the United States in olympic basketball play. Reasons why maybe they lost those crucial games and possibly why they dominated the 2008 Olympics.
